Today was amazing. First I got lost on my way to my lacrosse match. Stupid Google Maps let me down and gave me directions to "Heidelberg Plaza" which was about 30min from the grounds. Then we lost after the team fell apart. Our best shooter broke his hand a couple days earlier, our goalie got injured and our best face-off had to jump in goals, not to mention we only had one on the bench!
After losing the game, I raced back home and got ready to head to the city to catch The Getaway Plan, and The Amity Affliction. We got there late-ish but luckily they hadn't started. So we watched the two supporting acts from the near the edge of the mosh (I really regret not getting in there during Amity's set as they were insane) and finally decided to get in there at the start of TGP.
The show opened with some band called "Ioney" or something like that. People threw coins and phones at them for a while before the band got angry and had a go at some people. One guy hit his microphone just after he had asked the crowd to try and not hit them in the face or their instruments.
Next was Amity who I shall be seeing again in a few weeks. I liked them the best; their excellent combination of singing and screaming was truly amazing. And the keyboard! - it added so much to their set. I never knew they had a keyboardist until today.
In the mosh, Bread threw me up like three times which was sick. My first time crowd surfing; it's impossible to explain but I've got to say it's honestly the most amazing thing. All those people holding you up there, pushing you closer and closer to the band until you hit a weak spot and you get dropped before some kind individual catches you and begin shoving everyone around again.
By the end of the show, we were drenched with water (the security guys had been spraying us with water) and sweat. Couple this with cold air and a fair bit of wind and you have two incredibly cold people. The two of us found ourselves shaking for the next few hours as we attempted to find the venue for House vs. Hurricane. Our journey consisted of a few wrong turns - as Google Maps let me down once again - , a visit to the local cop shop, a long wait at Ringwood station where we witnessed numerous fights break out, 10 year old runaways being escorted by police and station staff emptying vomit in plastic containers onto the tracks.
Anywhoo, after running into some guy who was also as late as us (we missed all supporting acts and only just managed to get there in time for the start of HvH's set.
The mosh there - although quiet small - was crazy. We walked in and were standing like 3 metres away from it only to find ourselves being hurled in there by some kids. Next thing I knew, I was thrown over the barricades only to be caught by the gentle hands of security :)
Here's a couple songs for you.
First up there's "Ashes" by The Getaway Plan. Everyone kept shouting it out, trying to get them to play it. You work out what all the fuss was about because I have no idea, although having said that, it is starting to grow on me.
Ashes (A Different Kind Of Mess) - The Getaway Plan
Next is another by The Getaway Plan that got everyone's hands up in the air.
A Lover's Complaint - The Getaway Plan
The next three are a little shout out to that lovely girl you know as "The-Work-Experience-Girl".
No Good At Saying Sorry (One More Chance) - The Early November
Baby Blue - The Early November
Decoration - The Early November
