I Hate The Beach

As I so abruptly mentioned, I am in love with Breathe Electric's new EP, Emotions. A very varied but danceable release indeed. Looking at my plays, I believe this would be the fourth time that I've listened to the album. But soon enough, I'll tire myself of their electronic deliciousness and move on for at least for a few months until I rediscover them.

Breathe Electric - The Best of All
Breathe Electric - Emotion
Breathe Electric - The Average
Wow, I'm still not happy with the songs I decided to put up - that must be saying something (ey..? eyy? Hint: Buy it! Buy it! Buy it!) hmmm...
Boring cover though.

Oh yeah and...
  • A bird flew into Josh's face.
  • I saw a guy with a kippah of flesh.
  • I get embarrassed if people hear me practicing an instrument, especially my mum. So when I was synthing in my room I got an awful fright when my mum came in. I immediately stopped and walked off looking super suss. Ten minutes later she approaches me with a funny look on her face. "Butters... What were you doing before?..."

I've had quite a few late nights recently, most of them due homework. Luckily my mum didn't call me this morning to wake me up, so I can pretend that I slept in till 12 30 (just between you and me, I woke up at 11). Finally, I have a chance to catch up on homework and finish my assignments. Who knows, I might even do a little coding if I get the chance.

But.

Yeah.

I stumbled across Permanent Me a couple months ago on Last.FM and let me tell you this, I was impressed. THIS JUST IN: I'd write something but Breathe Electric's new EP has officially blown my mind!

Oh, And Another Tragic Tale For Two

Sad news friends, family, co-students, and sexy cousins whom I'm legally allowed to get down with (but will refrain from doing so for personal reasons); I'm not going to Anberlin / The Academy Is... It turns out I'm a bit low on cash at the moment and mother dearest is annoyed at me for going out so much recently ,but hopefully, they'll be at Soundwave next year and I'll catch them then. Anywhoo, I'll still be hitting up Parkway this weekend so that should be stellar.

Here's a track by Phone Calls From Home that I've really been digging of late and also a little number by The Maine that I've only just recently rediscovered.

Phone Calls From Home - Stop and Start
The Maine - Everything I Ask For

Well, I'm off to slave away at my overdue homework into the wee hours of the morning.

Catch,

Buttermenthol.

Treasure Island

Californian Indie Rockers, Brighten, always manage to put a smile on my dial, so hopefully, I can pass this little joy of mine onto you. After playing together for nine years and touring with the likes of This Providence and Cute Is What We Aim For these guys finally released their debut album "Carbon Copy Media", in 2007 (without the band's full knowledge haha). Two thumbs up for this brilliant compilation of finely constructed songs!

Oh, how I'd love to respond to "Why advertising doesn't affect me" (in media studies) with "I'm Indie... Bitch."

School's Out

It's like a quarter past one in the morning and I've got two games tomorrow so I'll make it snappy.

Tonight, with my friends BrookeBRUTAL and Ling, I went and saw Melbourne Pop-Punk act, Stealing O'Neal (again). Just like last time , they outdid themselves and put on an energetic performance which just happened to brighten up what had already been a less than average day (thanks to some tosser in the mosh). Definitely worth checking out next time they're in town.

Here's a crowd favourite.

It's Bread!

Hey guys, Bread here. Just thought I'd drop a line and tell you that I in fact DO exist, just been a bit quiet lately.

At the moment I'm in Fiji and I'm disliking it at the moment. I'm burnt so badly, I get woken at 9am by young children fighting and there's nothing suitable here for someone of my age. And to top it off, I can't find a picture of something to dignify my point. FML.

Anyways, thought I'd satisfy you guy's with some candy for your ears!

Here's "Punk Goes Acoustic 1 + 2". Worth checking out, good for when your feeling like shit.

It's a torrent, so if you can't get it going with Limewire, try out this bad boy-

I'd upload it to Mediafire, but I'm on the hotel computer's. Sorry!

I'm out, cya guys.

A Link To The Past

While trawling around Last.FM, I stumbled upon the funky English electronica duo RAC. In particular, it was an old Zelda mix from the days of the old SNES that caught my attention. It's a bit of an acquired taste but old Nintendo and Zelda fans (like myself) should enjoy it, especially the dirty intro - that really gets me going.

A Link To The Past (RAC Mix)

Next up, a catchy number by All Time Low and a funky Toxic Avenger remix of one my favourite songs. And last but not least, what I'm pretty sure is the latest and greatest Mayday Parade song.
All Time Low - Jasey Rae
The Secret Handshake - Too Young (The Toxic Avenger Remix)
Mayday Parade - Anywhere But Here

Oh and another random new Mayday Parade song.
Mayday Parade - The Silence

Is A Genius

Today we presented our Geography assignments in class (Powerpoint presentations on global warming). As we went through them, our teacher pointed out all the areas that people could improve on, and I took notes. Little does he know, the link I gave him for my project (I hosted it on dropbox) won't work at school because of the filtering on personal web storage. So, what I've done is I've touched up my presentation, making it so that it contains none of the flaws that the presentations already been shown had suffered. Just in case, I changed my computer's time and date before I saved it so that it looks like I finished it on time and have not edited it since.

Five points for Gryffindor!

Keep an eye out for Hopes Die Last. These Italian stalions are fresh out of high school and are breaming with potential, having already released several albums.
And Emery!!! For some reason they're being tagged as being post-hardcore on my Last.FM but they're sounding a tad more upbeat alternative to me. Very worth a look.

Boiling Point

Ok so I'm a terrible cook. Just then I fucked up trying to make two minute noodles. I was supposed to put boiled water on the noodles before I microwaved it but I didn't read the instructions and missed that part. So instead, I put the noodles in the microwave for an extra minute to compensate. While waiting, I decided to see if water was microwavable and that's when I stumbled upon all these articles saying water can superheat and explode if you put it in your microwave. They all said that there was a chance it wouldn't boil and that if shaken or if something were to go inside the liquid if could explode and scold you.

Cautiously, with a towel covering the blast radius, I opened the radiation shield. I waited a second to make sure it wouldn't combust by randomly. Next, I carefully stuck my fork into the bowl. No explosion. Hmmm. Still wary of a possible explosion, I draped the towel over my face and proceeded to carefully remove the bowl from the microwave without and surprises.

It was pretty obvious it wasn't going to explode after the "fork test" but I had to be sure. Even now, I'm looking at my noodles suspiciously, as if they're going to combust any second now.

Take Back Sunday

Despite my love for Taking Back Sunday, their latest album "New Again", was a real "miss" for them. What happened to their memorable, catchy hooks and their bright vocals that you couldn't help but sing along to. It's really nothing special compared to their previous releases, which is a real disappointment.

It is not, however, without two decent songs. "Where My Mouth Is" brings down the pace a bit on this grungier album and "Capital M-E" isn't too bad either.

Taking Back Sunday - Where My Mouth Is
Taking Back Sunday - Capital M-E

Perhaps I'm just not used to their new sound but either way it's still a pretty forgettable release

I Fight Dragons

Don't you just hate it when you're watching TV with your mum and then some "inspirational story" about a young person helping care for their disabled single parent while looking after their many siblings, running the house, and excelling at school comes on? And then an hour later she cracks it at you for not helping them enough? Then when you just go all quiet and zone out while they walk around the house mumbling inaudibly about how bad you are and how hard they try. And When they get all grumpy about having to do the little things for you that you never asked for and don't expect. And when you say "I'm sorry, you don't have to do that for me anymore" they're all like it's okay I can do it I just need you to respect me. WTF does that have to do with respect! You just changed the reason for your anger so that you aren't wrong in your own mind. And they think we are highly emotional and have massive mood swings and are easily influenced and impressionable.
I'M SORRY YOU DON'T HAVE MS

This Is SPARTA!

Sources tell me that there is going to be an U16 Australian Lacrosse Development Squad next year and that they might be touring over in Canada.
I shall be top age.
I will try out.
And
Hopefully,
I will get in!

For now, I'll just keep playing Southern.

What A Day

Megan Fox IS transformers.

It's been a big day for me with much confusion, regret, relief and a mix of good and bad luck. First off, I was going to get a lift with a friend to my first game out in Williamstown. For some odd reason they had to leave early and came to my place at 8 30 to try and tell me as they couldn't get through to me on my home phone (the whole street was out). I happened to be in the shower when they dropped by and missed them. At 9 30 (the time we had agreed upon) I went outside and waited. 50 minutes later, there had still been no sign of them so I decided to see if anyone at the club was going up to Willy and if not, to have a run with the U18's. Luckily enough, my best friend's dad was there and gave me a lift up.

Due to difficulties in finding which of the Williamstown grounds we were playing at, we got there at quarter time. It wasn't a bad game; everyone played there asses off but without three of our best players on the field it just wasn't enough. During the game I managed to piss off one of their guys after running into him by accident. He tried to start me right on the crease but I my friend backed me up and we declined politely. Anywhoo, after the game, a few of their boys came over and took the bench into the storeroom. After that, my long pole was nowhere to be seen. Everyone assumed that one of those Willy rats had taken it but it turns out it was my friend's younger brother who thought he was supposed to take it home because they had it the other day. If only he had told me sooner because there was a lot of anger being directed at the Williamstown kids.

After that,
I played Div 3 and corked my leg in the first five minutes,
trammed home in pouring rain,
got home and couldn't get in because I had locked myself out earlier that morning,
and realised that I had gotten home about a minute after my mum had left to pick me up from the club.

Also, last night I stayed up doing my Geography assignment (which was due in by email at midnight) and did not finish until 11 30. I thought that 30 mins would be more than sufficient to be able to upload it and send it to my teacher. Turns out it wasn't (I was capped). My internet rolled over that night at around 4. There goes 5%.

But, enough about me! Here's some electronic and house tunes to get you through the week.
NB. Band names are going on the left from now on.

Discovery - Orange Shirt
Discovery - Swing Tree
Does It Offend You, Yeah? - Dawn Of The Dead
Crystal Castles - Drink N' Fuck! (Good Times)
Starfucker - Girls Just Want To Have Fun
Miike Snow - Animal(Treasure Fingers Remix)
Reverend & The Makers - Silence Is Talking (Alex Metric Remix)

To Infinity And Beyond!

Personally, I find house music a tad too easy to digest. Having said this, there are some exceptions. Futurecop! is one such exception.

Inspired by 80's teen flicks and sci-fi cartoons, Futurecop! takes you to a foreign destination with every single track, and let me ensure you, it'll be a comfortable ride.

Futurecop! - N.A.S.A.

Also, here's a catchy Little Boots remix.

Little Boots - Remedy (Buffetlibre vs Sidechains Remix)
