Zombie Apocalypse

Two weeks ago, as part of my school's curriculum, I had to do 20 hours of community service. No, going to an animal shelter never crossed my mind, so I ended up going to a nearby nursing home with two friends of mine. Playing bingo for a week didn't sound too bad. Turns out not too many elderly people play bingo, and those who do, don't need help playing it.

Instead, we had to spend about half our time in the dementia section of the complex. That, was possibly one of the most disturbing and moving experiences of my life. Yeah sure we started off making jokes about how they all looked like zombies, and how they smelt like they decided going to the toilet was for young people, but after the initial excitement wore off, the realisation that we had a long road ahead of us had set in.

Recursive conversations, nausea, trauma, anxiety all plagued us while we were in there. They looked like a bunch of corpses sitting around in a room moaning endlessly. Don't really want to talk about it.

But after we got out of there it was actually alright. We started just walking around the place, taking people for walks out into the sun and having chats with them, as well as perving on the receptionist and one of the nurses who were both in their early 20's. One lady pulled us aside and talked to us for like 3 hours about architecture and stuff while we were pretending to listen to her (we were listening to our iPods the whole time we were there).

The funniest part of our service there was during 'Gentlemen's Club'. My (hot-ish) teacher came to visit us and the whole time they were checking her out and whispering things to each other. And when she left, they just made jokes about her :p

I also got told by some lady to "Go Home!" after I asked her if she wanted some help.
My friends and I looked at each other, puzzled as to what she meant. So we asked her if she meant back to school? She answered us with a,
"Go back home to China!"

Not as bad as what happened to my (black) friend, though. He was wheeling some guy outside and the guy kept singing, "Eenie meenie miney mo, catch the nigger by the toe."
Hehe.

Also,
When I went to 'Gentlemen's Club' they asked me how long I was on exchange for.
And,
My friend and I had four (very) mature ladies try flirt with us.
Quite Disturbing.

I really don't get it, when I first went to my school, most people didn't realise I was half asian but when I went to the nursing home they all picked up on it straight away.

Oh my God, I was procrastinating and going through my iTunes when I stumbled upon The Maine. I can't believe I forgot just how much I loved these guys. That's the problem with having heaps of music, you just can't listen to everything, so you end up forgetting all the stuff you used to love.

Here's the song that rekindled my obsession. A cute and innocent little track of theirs named 'Kiss and Sell'.

Kiss and Sell - The Maine

And something a little slower.

Into Your Arms - The Maine

Two of The Maine's members quit school after the bands formation in December, 2007 to focus on the band after amassing a huge Myspace following. Thanks to various social networking sites and word-of-mouth the band played to a killer crowd of 600 at their first show. Since then, they've been moving onto bigger things such as touring with The Academy Is... , as well co-headlining 'The Alternative Press Tour' with 3oh!3 and Family Force 5.

Ever After

Last night I went to sleep with my electric blanket on high because my right leg was all cold from the 'Dencorub'. Even then, I couldn't feel my right thigh! That right there is a testament to it's pure therapeutic awesomeness.
Anyways, I'm gonna watch 'Ever After' because it's interesting and I like movies like that.

Truth Be Told,

So... it turns out I play lacrosse. Yeah, I've been playing for like 5 years? Anywhoo... since I got home, I've just been vegging out on the couch, unable to move. Why? Well now that you ask, I've got three massive corkies; one on each thigh, and one on my arm. Hurts like shit, well it did! Until I rubbed this 'Dencorub' stuff on. It's amazing stuff, way better than anything I've tried before, I can actually walk now (well I would if I wasn't so damn comfy here).
My suggestion, get some of the stuff.

Oh and that somehow reminds me, my friend has anger issues (throws tables at people, threatens to kill the teacher etc.) and instead of punishing him after threatening to kill his teacher's unborn baby, my Religion teacher/Year Level Coordinator pulled him aside and had a conversation with him about how he should masturbate to relieve stress. Then he went on to describe how he masturbates twice a day, and how even the Pope - supposedly - does too. Bit odd for a Catholic school.

On a different note, I've got two songs for you today:

The first track I have for you today is the latest single by Newcastle indie power pop band, A December Truth. Since their beginning, the band has experienced various line-up changes and has watched their music gain an edgier undertone while managing to keep their trademark "poppy hooks." Great song,

The Great Escape - A December Truth

To top that off, a British electronica/dance trio, Metronomy, that is soon to be touring all over Europe. Sweet remixes? "Dance-tastic" live shows? Light-up shirts? What more could you want!

A Thing For Me - Metronomy

Anyways more exam revision :| gahhh
